My new obsession...

Have any of you mom's ever noticed that everytime you have a new baby you get hooked on some TV show you never would have watched before? For example, with Tristan it was General Hospital. This time around with Liv I started watching There and Back starring Ashley Parker Angel. "Who??" you ask. He was in the MTV-made boy-band O'Town. I was never into O'Town and had never heard of Ashley. In fact, the 1st time I watched There and Back, he was having a garage sale and sold an O'Town cd to a lady. Then he pointed himself out on the cd cover to the buyer. The entire premise of the show is to chronicle his struggle of having success with the boy band and now, broke and starting over trying to prove himself as a solo artist. Ok, the guy bugs me. He's cheesy and seems like he's playing it up for the cameras, but holy cow- I'm hooked. I freakin' started DVRing the show!! The last episode showed his reaction to hearing his single "Let U Go" on the radio for the 1st time. I'll admit it- I cried. His excitement and his fiance's excitement was so cute! But then again, it doesn't take a lot to make me cry when watching TV. I mean, I cried when Charles Ingalls' homemade baseball bat broke on Little House on the Prairie. But now that season 1 is over, and he's not sure if there will be a 2nd season, I am in withdrawal. So, I started googling Ashley. I mean- looking him up on Google. I wanted to see when his cd is coming out because I really, really like the songs he sang on his show. He wrote them all and is a really talented musician. Now, well I'm a dork that knows whole life story. But it's even worse than just reading about him. I found out he surfed in Kelly Slater's Celebrity Invitational Tournament, so I DVR'ed that too. (I'm a Kelly Slater fan anyway, so I feel more justified in watching it.) FYI- Ashley didn't win- Ashlee Simpson did. It gets worse- I've started watching TRL (Total Request Live) on MTV. I saw on Ashley Parker Angel's website that his "Let U Go" video was making it's World Premiere on TRL, so I watched it. Then, (I'm embarrassed to admit this) I actually voted for it- a couple of times. I called in and voted. I am such a dork! And now, my dvr records TRL daily so I can see how his video did. It went from #6 to #1 in a week, thank you very much!
Now, I have to re-interate: the guy bugs me. I don't have a crush on him. He isn't hot. He's like 24 years old with the body of a 15 year old. He's wimpy. He got in a fight on his show and I think his fiance kicked the guys butt more than Ashley did. I honestly do not know WHY I got hooked on this show, on watching this guy, on wanting to hear his song. I have "Let U Go" stuck in my head constantly. It's really a good song, but LOTS of people make good music. Sei thinks I'm a nerd because he'll come home from work and I'm like, "Ashley's video was #3 today!" or "Ashley proposed to Tiffany today!!" It's really bad. I need help. I need a new thing to be hooked on. Any suggestions?? What's funny is I'm willing to bet at least 1/3 of you go look him up online after reading this. Another 20% will actually watch TRL to see his video (1:30 pm mst) or watch it online. You can't help it. It's like trying to lick your elbow after getting that email that says you can't. (You just tried to again, didn't you??) No worries. If you do become an Ashley dork, don't be ashamed!! Be an Ashley dork right along with me!! We and his 20,000 13 year old fans need to stick together. :)

Side note: Sei can't really talk because we went to Texas for Thanksgiving and he had an affair with Jack Bauer. (Kiefer Sutherland's character on the show
24.) He rented the 1st and 2nd seasons on dvd and watched them the entire time. Then at nite he would come to bed and start telling me about what "Jack" did. And I care, because...???

I am offended that you would even mention Jack and Ashley in the same breath. Jack would kick Tiff and Ashley's A$$ without even touching them. For future reference, please refer to Jack as "Mr. Bauer"! You want reality TV, watch 24. It doesn't get any more real than that.

Oh my gosh, you guys crack me up! I am not curious enough about the show or that "Mr. Bauer" to even look it up or watch, but I do enjoy reading what you have to say about it! LOL!
You really are a great writer...

I'm sorry Tori, but after reading this I have to say we can't be friends anymore.

Robin- I realize I'm a loser. I'm hoping by hanging with you that your "coolness" will rub off on me. I need help. Realizing that is the 1st step to recovery...

I totally know what you mean about the late-night new baby tv finds.

What other kind of stuff do you like? Give me an idea and I'll recommend some new addictions.
