Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Welp- I'm down here in the great state of Texas visiting my parents and having my weekends with the kids. My sister, who lives in Kansas, came down also with her 2 boys. The kids have love having their cousins around. I wish we lived closer. :( Everytime I read Robin's blog about living near her family in less than I week I get depressed!! Family is so awesome to have around. I am thankful to have made friends in Utah- finally. But most of them are moving away. (Some further away than others.)
We haven't been doing a whole lot. We went to the pool today. Taj was lovin' it!! Liv just chilled in her stroller playing with her cool chicken toy I got her at Ross for like $1.99. I was so nervous about the airplane ride down here. I had a layover in Denver and then flew on to Dallas. Taj did awesome! The 1st leg of the flight he was just so excited to be on a plane. He looked out the window and talked about how high we were. When he started getting antsy I pulled out a new train toy I had secretly bought for him and it entertained him for the remainder of the flight. I put him in a pull up to avoid a mile high accident, but he actually told me he needed to go potty. When I showed him the bathroom he looked at me like I was crazy!! He decided he would "hold it" and he did!! The 2nd leg on to Dallas I had the dvd player ready for him to watch a movie. I gave him a Baby Bottle Pop (Mom tip: Awesome bribery candy!!) to entertain him until it was ok to turn on the dvd. He started dipping into the sour powder then all the sudden I realized he was basically asleep. I tried to take the candy and he cried so I gave it back. Then his whole head flopped over and I was able to take the candy. He slept the entire flight. I had to wake him up after we landed. Rad! I didn't even have to drug him! (Mom tip #2: Dimatapp baby!!)
Liv did great on both flights. She just ate and chilled in my lap. At the airport I probably looked like a psycho mom. I had her in the stroller and Taj in one of those vests with a leash on it. I didn't care if people looked at me like I was a loser. It kept him from running off. The Denver airport is huge. If he ran off he would have been totally lost. And I'm to the point where I know what I'm doing (kinda) and I don't care if people think they know a better way. Works for me!! :) When we were waiting for our next flight - don't laugh- I tied the leash part to the stroller. Taj didn't even notice. He just played with new Hot Wheels on the floor. I was really pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Our layover on the way home is a lot longer, but it's later in the evening, so I'm hoping the airport won't be as busy as it was at noon.
Anyway- that's all there is to report here. My kiddos are here with me for my weekend and it's been great. I miss them so much when they're gone!! It's just not right to not have all your babies!! :( Just 5 more weeks until they are all back home!!

Have a great trip! Kudos for the flight successes. I dread flying with kids (I've done it before...perhaps that's why I drive everywhere).

Hi, Tara! See you in a few weeks!!

Way to go on the flights! Glad it went as smoothly as it could! I am so nervous about flying to Indiana in July alone with Liam. You are a pro!

Thanks for your encouraging words today. I am so curious about that one lady. Her life must really stink to make a perfect stranger feel like crap.

sounds like the airport wasn't so bad after all. Now my turn. I think I will put Charlotte in my Baby Bjorn front carrier and Tucker in a stroller or maybe I'll bust out the leash thing, I never had much success with it before. I am really glad I have no layover and a really short flight. Enjoy the rest of your trip!

RObin- there's a travel Thomas the Tank Engine toy that folds into a cute carrying case for less than $8 at Walmart. I surprised Taj with it and he LOVED it. Entertained him for most of the flight. Good luck!
