Am I old?

Last nite a member of the bishopric came over to ask Sei and I to speak in church on Sunday. These are his exact words, "I'm sorry for the late notice. We had a young couple lined up to speak, but they backed out..." Excuse me? A "young couple"?? Hey buddy, don't let the 7 kids fool you. I'm only 30 and I earned a AA* on "Speed Over Beethoven" on Dance Dance Revolution!
He tried to correct himself when I said, "A young couple? So you came to ask the old people to speak now..." He fumbled with his words "Uh, I mean, a young, married couple was lined up..." Aren't we married too? It was funny to watch him try to figure out what to say because he SO does not know Seiuli and me! When he called before coming by Sei told him "We would LOVE to speak at church..." and I said something like, "Shouldn't you ask me if I want to 1st??" And Sei said (while still on the phone), "I don't have to ask you. I'm the patriach of this home..." The poor man on the other end of the line. He didn't know what to say. I think my laughing in the background relaxed him a little...
I am stoked to speak. I get nervous, but it gives people a chance to get to know me. I haven't met a ton of people here because I was called into the primary presidency 2 months after moving here. (Working with the children) People know Sei a little more. Mostly because he played one of his beautiful medleys in church a few weeks ago. And now he's oh so popular. But anyway- I have a lot going on this Sunday. I teach in primary this week, Isabel has a talk to give also in primary. I have a presidency meeting before church and another meeting after church. Plus, I am signed up to run a 5k on Saturday. Did I tell y'all that? I'm running in the Run For Red 5k. It's to raise money for the American Red Cross. I'm excited, but a little nervous. But anyway... rambling here.

That is all. I'll report how it goes on Sunday. :)

I look forward on hearing how Sunday goes! I'm nervous for you, I can't handle public speaking!

I remember when you spoke here for the first time. It DID help us get to know you! You are so good up there... not fair, I am just a nervous boob!

I didn't know you were a runner but that is so cool! I need to get back running so I can run a 5K next month.

Speaking in church is one of the hardest things for me. I would so love to hear you talk. Good luck with this forthcoming Sunday!

Mel- I am SO not a runner. I don't mind it, but I'm slow and it takes me a couple of miles to even get into a groove. I'm nervous about thus run because I am running with a friend who IS a runner. But she's like 4 months pregnant and says she's "slow." Her "slow" is my "fast" I'm sure!

Someday I wish to be in good enough shape to run a 5K. Good for you!!

A young couple, I love it.

How fantastic about the 5K...oh, and the talk. I don't mind speaking at all. Now, bearing my testimony or praying in public? Those are different stories.

Good luck with both!

Here's how you tell if your ward family thinks you're old: Notice if they call you "Sis _____" or "Tori". My husband and I noticed that we just automatically switch the way we call people by how old we perceive them.

I was at 3- people meeting last month where a member of the RS said "Brother so and so is older..is his 30s", a few minutes later she said "They are older now, in their 30s".
I said "hey! you keep referring to 30 year olds as "old" people, what's up with that? How old do you think I am?".

I think on Sunday you should tell everyone about your Dance Dance Revolution achievements, that will show them.

PS. I can run a 5K. In my mind.

I just came over to see if NCS got to comment first. =P And in the process I find a funny blogger to enjoy.

You're the coolest! Dance it up! Or..get down! Or...whatever it is they do these days.
