The Weekend Report

Well, I survived the weekend. I completed the 5k and I spoke in church. We'll start with the run...

Beep! Beep!

Yeah, um... I was NOTHING like the road runner. But I did ok. I placed 79th overall out of about 200 women and 29th in women aged 25 to 99. I thought that was a lame way to divide up the ages but I was 29th out of about 100 aged 25 to 99. Anyway- I ran the 5k in 28 minutes and 56 seconds. My pregnant friend I ran with beat me by about 55 seconds. I ran with her until about the last mile. She is 3 or 4 inches taller than me, so I really think that made a difference. Her stride is a lot longer. Not to mention she's been a runner, for like, forever. If she wasn't pregnant she would have beat me probably by about 4 minutes. YAY for her being pregnant!! I'm proud of myself. My goal was to run it in under 30 minutes, so I did it!

Speaking today at church wasn't bad. I was nervous, but there was some excitement mixed in there. I did ok. I made them laugh, so that's always good. Seiuli did awesome, of course. He wrote out his talk and then he didn't look down like the entire time. He always rocks. Sometimes I wanna say "Come on God. Break me off a lil' somethin' somethin'!!" Is it fair for one man to have SOOOOO many talents?? Anyway- it went ok. People told us we did great. I think they enjoy it when the speakers don't stand up there and just read their talks. I was just happy Sei said that, yes, I still have my southern accent. I would be sad if I lost it. :)

5k in 28 minutes? You go girl! I could walk 1k in that time! I rock too! Your friends extra height is SO the reason she cut 53 seconds off!

Glad talking in church went well. I hate it when we have a guest speaker and I am having to stifle a yawn, or 10!

I can mail you my southern accent if you ever lose yours, although mine is more of a mixture of Atlanta and North Carolina. People here in TX make fun of me. I'm ok with that!

Oh. I know! I think I've lost my southern drawl. No one ever comments about it anymore. That makes me super sad! I love a southern accent.

Yayy for you! My goodness! I get a 11/12 minute mile and am so proud of myself! But you? You are my role model! :-)

You are pretty much awesome! I am way too lame to run any sort of anything- although sometimes I run around in circles on my trampoline with my kids.
Now that your church ladies have seen you speak, they will all want to hang out!

Good on you for both! I have a cousin who runs in those incessantly, and triathalons. I think she's nuts. :)

Congrats on your 5K. See ~ you totally rock. You ran! I'm lame ~ I had to walk in the 3-Day. I don't think I could do a run. & Kudos to the speaking at church. I don't think I could do that.
