Time Travel Tuesday

Annie hosts Time Travel Tuesday and I thought I'd try it out this time. This week we travel back to my 1st date. I had bunches of "boyfriends" in jr. high and high school, but I wasn't allowed to date (a boy coming to my house to pick me up in his car by ourselves) until I was 16. Now considering I don't remember a first, real date I must have chosen to block it out for a reason... So, I will travel back to July 5-8, 2001 and tell about my 1st dates with Seiuli. Those are the only 1st dates that really matter anyway, right??

I've told before how Sei and I met online. I knew before I even talked to him on the phone that I was going to marry him. I told him that the nite he called me!! I was so bold- but I just knew in my heart it was right. We decided we should probably meet in real life before becoming engaged ;) so I searched for plane tickets up to Utah. I had felt before I met Seiuli that I was suppose to move to Utah and had put my house on the market. It sold very quickly. I didn't know why I felt Utah was where I was suppose to be until I met him. Then it all made sense. Anyway... I found some cheap tickets and flew to Utah. Sei was in the police academy at the time, so my sister picked me up at the airport and Sei and I planned to meet at Tara's apartment that nite. He came to the door and I remember he had on a sky blue shirt with khaki pants & his eyes looked way blue. He had hair then, but he shaved it shortly before we were married. I wish we had taken a picture our 1st date. :( That nite we went to The Pizza Factory where I could hardly eat. I was too nervous. I don't think he ate either. I remember as we walked into the restaurant he took my hand and it was so natural. Afterwards we went picked up some drinks and drove up to the mountains to an overlook/make out point. ;) He tried to kiss me and I was just a total dork/chicken. He wasn't like trying to make out with me or anything. He just wanted to kiss me and I probably made him feel like a reject. We went back to my sister's apartment and I think we watched a movie- "For Love & Basketball." He picked that movie because he knew I loved bball. And yes, I did finally kiss him. A lot. :D

The next nite we drove up to Salt Lake City to walk around Temple Square. We watched "Legacy"- the movie playing at Temple Square. Seiuli later used a line from that movie when he proposed to me, although I didn't get that until like 2 or 3 years later. We also ate at Chili's because he knew I loved their chicken crispers. I know I wore a purple shirt with black capris.

The next day was Saturday so we actually got to spend all day together. We played miniature golf and went to a drive in movie- kinda. There was a drive in theater but we actually went to a place behind it where we could see the movie, but we didn't have to pay. We weren't watching the movie anyway. (It was "Cat & Dogs.") We were just talking when we heard a tap on the window and saw a flashlite shining thru. We were busted!!! It was the cops! How funny is that?!?! He just asked us not to park there because some people would watch the movies "illegally" from there. I can't remember what else we did that day. I just know we were together all day and I loved it.

Sunday was my last day there. We went to church with my sister and her husband and son. Then we went out to visit Sei's cousin. I remember her asking me what nationality I was because I was so tan! Isn't that funny? I also remember the jeans I had on. I was so skinny. Ugh. We went to SLC because I had a plane to catch, but we ate at Chili's again before going to the airport. At the airport I had a People magazine and I remember Sei wrote little notes on some of the pages while I was in the bathroom. When I was in the bathroom I remember thinking, "This is weird. He totally knows I'm peeing right now..." Before I got on the plane he hugged me and told me he loved me and that he'd miss me. When I got on the plane I knew I couldn't live without him. I couldn't. We belonged together. I moved to Utah less than a month later. And now he always gets his kiss. :)

Oh- I forgot. The next day after arriving home a huge bouquet of flowers was delivered to my home. On the note it said, "I think you forgot these. Love, Seiuli". He knew I hadn't been able to bring the flowers home with me that he had brought me on our 1st date. Have I ever mentioned that I love my husband???

When I moved up to Utah my sister surprised me with the flowers Sei had given me on our 1st date. She had saved them and dried them for me. Thanks again Sister.

Your Love Life is Like The Princess Bride

"Since the invention of the kiss, there have only been five kisses that were rated the most passionate, the most pure. This one left them all behind."

For you, love is like a fairy tale - albeit a fairly twisted one.
You believe romance is all about loyalty, fate, and a good bit of goofy fun.

Your love style: Idealistic yet quirky

Your Hollywood Ending Will Be: Perfectly romantic

Super sweet story! I used to dry one rose out of every bouquet Jeremy gave me, but they just got so messy over the years, the moving, the handling. So I finally let them go. Now that we aren't going to be moving around so much, I might like to try again.

Your marriage is so sweet and special!

Iwish I would have known at the time what exactly was going on. You are an inspiring couple.

The line from Legacy...was it, "I promise to make you laugh"? Or smile? Or whatever?

I know, I know. We are the cutest couple ever... ;)

Stepherz- I have a vase that I save a few petals from each bouquet Sei gives me. It's overflowing now and I'm not sure I should start a new one or what!

~j.- He actually handed me a card telling me how much he loved me and then it said "I would have you for my wife..." I totally didn't realize it was a movie quote until we watched "Legacy" at enrichment nite like 2 or 3 yrs later!!

My first date with Papi was at Pancho's Mexican Buffet. I'm totally and completely serious about that.

Can I steal your first date story? It's so much more romantic and cuter.
