Tajy's 6th Sense

Tajy has always been, well, different (?) than our other kids. He's louder. He throws more tantrums. And he is a scaredy cat. Bad. I have to blame that on Sei's genes because his family is very superstitious and they've all "seen" ghosts or heard cats talking in Samoan. (Not just talking, but talking in Samoan.) Ever since Taj was maybe 2 years old he has not slept well. We can't even put him in his bed in his room because his screaming in the middle of the nite wakes up Liv. So, he sleeps on a mat on the floor of our room. To give you a little insight to a nite with Tajy in your room, I'll tell you about Monday nite.

The lites were out and Sei & I were both sitting up in bed. Taj wakes up, looks at the silhouettes. He sits there staring for a second then he jumps up as Sei and I are saying "Taj, it's ok. It's Mom and Dad." He screams like we were cutting his arm off - waking up Livie in the process- and bolts around the bed to my side yelling "MOM!!!!!!!" He crawls up on the bed with me and is just crying and crying saying something about a "Monster with white hair..." Eh? But it doesn't end there. He's lying our bed and Sei & I are talking. I move my arm and it lifts up the bedspread a little and Taj screams- again. And wakes up Liv- again. I said, "Taj, it's just my arm." Taj laughs and says, "Oh. I thought it was a monster." A little while later somehow Taj sees Sei's head and screams and backs away from Sei. "Taj, that's Daddy's head." "Oh. ha ha. I thought it was a monster." It sounds funny now, but it is SO NOT FUNNY at 1 am. Or 2am. Or 5am. Ugh.

Now, I believe young children are more intune and sometimes do see spirits, but most of the time I just think Taj is a chicken. There have been those times that have freaked me out- a little. Like when I was lying with him in the dark and all the sudden he says, "Momma, that man won't stop looking at me." "Uh, what man Taj?" "Over dare" as he points towards my bedroom door. Ok, now I would hope that if there was a spirit or something in my room that I would feel something. Well, I didn't feel anything, but I asked him if I turned on the lite would the man go away. I turned on the lite and Taj said he was gone. Yeah... let's leave the lite on. Another time, after freakin' out in his room about a monster in the corner and coming to our bed (at our old house) Taj is lying there and whispers to me, "Mommy, somepings coming..." as he stares at the ceiling.

I don't know. Maybe he does see... something. But every freakin' nite?? And it's not just at nite. He won't walk past my bedroom to get to his room during broad daylite unless I turn my bedroom lite on 1st. He also won't go to the downstairs bathroom to "make poop friends" unless I come over by the door. "Don't look Mom! Just stand there!!" And I better not even think about leaving him downstairs or upstairs by himself.
Needless to say, I don't sleep well anymore either.

Wow, what a nightmare... Literally! I am so sorry. This has certainly gotten old for you all, I hope something clicks with him soon so he can rest. That is just a tough situation!

This just made me laugh:
(Not just talking, but talking in Samoan.)

How creepy. I can't even begin to think of how to deal with something like that.

I didn't realize it was that bad. That's hard. So, where are you and he sleeping in TX? Outside? :-)

Wow, I really hope as he gets older his scary "spirit-sense" (something like spidey sense) will be outgrown. Sorry.

Tori it's hard not to laugh with the background music and the 5th grade picture of you in your sidebar! LOL.

My oldest just stopped being a scaredy cat at age 10. Hopefully Taj will get over it by then:)

WOw Tori, that would totally freak me out. "Momma, that man won't stop looking at me" 0_0 AAAAHHHH! So scary! Does he "see things" when he has been sleeping on your bed from the beginning? Does sleeping with the light on all night helps? Has he watched any scary movie, like ever? What do you think is happening?
Poor little guy, I don't know I'd know what to do in a situation like that. Totally clueless.

Mexicans are very superstitious also, BUT I think that my background on "heavy scary movie watching/book reading" gives me an edge.

Gina- Yes, it has gotten old. Some nites I'm so annoyed and then others I really feel bad for him!

Colleen- Sometimes it is creepy, but I really never feel like there's anything "there" so it's not too bad.

Tara- Yeah. It's bad. I thought you were sleeping outside so we wouldn't bother you...

Robin- I tell Taj to shoot a web at the monster... He does sometimes, out of his butt of course.

Mel- Glad you like the music and pic. Hee hee! I sure hope Taj outgrows it!

NCS- I don't think he's seen a scary movie or anything. If he starts in the bed with us and we let him stay he usually does ok. It's just a lot of times when he wakes up and he's on the floor he FREAKS OUT. I just think he sees shadows and what not and actually believes in monsters, so he scares himself. At least I hope that's all it is...

Wow Tori,
I feel like Izzy sees angels. She smiles and looks into the corner of the ceiling with the sweetest smile and I just have to think she is seeing something.
I think I would be rebuking demons if my kids were seeing those things :o).
Hope you are doing okay. (I mean really really wonderful of course not just okay).

Poor kid, and poor Mom and Dad, too. I hope he outgrows it soon.

I love the 5th grade Tori!

You must be so tired! And how hard to be the sweet, loving, nurturing mommy when you're ready to tear your hair out (or his!).

You must be exhausted!

That would be so exhausting. I hope he gets over it soon!

Hopefully it will be something he will outgrow. We've tried to teach our boys to say a little prayer if they are scared, but it's hard to implement all the time.

Thanks for the cute Good Mail I got today!!! I love the pen. :o)

"Make poop friends"! LOL! How cute is that? :D How interesting and a little scary that Taj might be seeing spirits. Maybe when he's older he'll be able to talk about it with you. In the meantime, try and get as much sleep as you can!

BTW, I'm cracking up at your 5th grade picture. Why were the 80's so cruel?

I feel so bad for both of you! I am sorry that you are so tired and I am sad that he is scared all the time!

PS Yes, my girly-ness is quite sickening...my brothers like to make fun of me...but it's ok haha

OMG! You poor thing. That is crazy! Tell your husband it's the genes from his side, so he has to deal with it in a soundproof room. LOL

I loved the part about the cats talking - in Samoan. Too funny!
