Things that make my life easier...

Velcro. Next to the Walkman and Tab it's the
coolest invention of the 20th century!

(Lynne Stone- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun)

I was just thinking today as I got ready to leave the house how wonderful some inventions are and how they really do make my life easier. Here are a few:
My newly purchased Mary Kay tinted moisturizer with spf. I soooo do not like to wear much makeup. I feel like I have too much on if I wear base or anything like that. My wonderful MK consultant, who happens to be my sister, recommended this great invention. I LOVE it. My skin seems to glow when I wear it and I also know it's protected. YAY!!

Another invention is pre-mixed chocolate milk. It's pricier than Quik mix or Hershey syrup, but when you have a child who consumes chocolate milk like I consume Diet Dr. Pepper, well, I'd be stirring mix all day long. And although I would LOVE to have totally toned wrists from all the stirring, I have other things to do. Another good thing is that I can dilute it with with regular milk, so the gallon lasts almost twice as long! :)

Pay at the pump rocks. I am so glad I don't have to go inside to pay for gas. That would be such a pain with a car full of kids and people calling 9-1-1 if they see you leave your kids for a second. I'd probably never leave the house because I'd never have gas. (Well, I might have gas, but the car wouldn't. Tee hee! Sorry- bad joke.) Balance Carb Well bars rock. They are an easy alternative to any meal. I've been doing a high protein diet for the last couple of weeks and these bars have been my chocolate fix and my "I don't want eggs for breakfast again" savior. (I've lost 5 pounds BTW!!)

The best invention, by The Man Upstairs Himself, is by far my wonderful husband. He cooks, he cleans, he takes the initiative and gets things done without me getting on him about it. He's also a great kisser. :) I love how Sei will get Livie breakfast if I'm busy trying to write a blog ;) or he can totally sense when my patience is gone and he'll get the kids ready for bed. I thank God everyday for His wonderful "invention." :)

I know there are so many other things I could write about, but I have to get ready for swim lessons. What are some things that make your life easier??

"LOVE to have totally toned wrists from all the stirring" You are so funny! And the gas joke was good in my opinion, but you know, I am gross like that.

The computer of course, because it lets me connect with people I would never otherwise connect with, and I can learn about just about any topic I choose. (My interview is up at my blog about nothing blog by the way.)
Disposable diapers. I know they aren't as earth friendly as the other kind, but I remember trying to swish the cloth diapers out when my little brother and sisters were babies, and I don't have time for that these days.
Movable type/printing press. Hey, I love to read!
Vans. It would really suck to have to take two cars everywhere, or worse, a horse and wagon (especially with all the laws about picking up after your animal's droppings ewwww).
Chocolate...it equals sanity on some days.

Well, not to be totally disgusting, but the invention of tampons was pretty dang amazing. I think about how terrible it must have been in the old days...I mean, what did they do?!!!

I want to check out that Mary Kay stuff...

My kids were also big chocolate milk fans so I used to mix up an entire gallon at a time of Ovaltine. Sure beat making it cup by cup or paying more for the pre-made stuff.

I have never tried the Balance Carb bars, but the South Beach meal replacement bars are REALLY good!

Yayy for you losing 5 pounds! That's super awesome! I've bumped my workouts to 4 days a week because I gained 5 pounds in the last month. I've been lazy and have eaten more junk. Hey, maybe I could give you a few of my pounds and you could lose them for me?

THank you again for the GMG mail! I was super psyched. Did I just say, "Psyched?" Dude I'm old.

As far as inventions go-- My new Spotbot is awesome. I am so tired of scrubbing my couches, so I bought the Bissell Spotbot. Oh my! I love it! That's all I could think of, and I only thought of that because I'm staring at it right now.

Nice list! I occasionally think life must have been so much easier 50 or 100 years ago - then I think about all the stuff I'd have to do without.

For me, I don't know where I'd be without Mountain Dew, and I'm slightly attached to my cell phone. I'm also really happy about no-spill sippy cups, indoor plumbing and disposable diapers. Dumping chamber pots and washing poo cloths must have been horrible.

And the one perk to living in Jersey? Full-service gas stations. I can honestly say that I have never pumped gas in my entire life. I once prayed my way home from Delaware with my gas light on rather than try to figure out how to work a gas pump. :o)

I LOOOOOOOVE that movie!! And - this is gross - but I love to eat slightly moistened Quik powder. Get a big spoon of it, dunk it in a glass of milk and get it wet, and just eat it off the spoon...

Wow, just typing that is grossing me out. But eating it is heavenly.

millie, that is gross. ;)

Does stirring chocolate milk tone your wrists?? I better get stirring. :D

You are so cute. Thanks for sharing some of your favorite inventions with us. I'll have to check into those balance bars. Do tell more of your high protein diet. I'd love to lose another 5 lbs before I head to Utah!

Well, deodorant makes my life easier. Can you imagine how bad the pioneers must have smelled?

I don't think I could live without my cell phone.

The microwave makes my life much easier since I don't usually decide what to defrost for dinner until 30 minutes before it has to be done.

Power windows and locks on a vehicle. I sadly don't have them, but I did for a week recently and now I want them permanently!

Sandals and flip flops in the summer. I love being able to throw my shoes on quickly and ditto for my kids being able to do it too.

Excellent movie!

As a writer, I'd have to say I don't know what I would have done before the invention of my laptop! LOL I can live without the cell phone, but not the laptop. Portable. Of course, I'd also love to know what they did before coffee makers. I'd lose my mind waiting for an old fashioned thing to brew! I need my coffee in the mornings.

Actually I'm simple enough to not miss anything but the laptop if it all went away tomorrow.

Oh wait. I just thought of one more thing - my camera. I love holding the memory in my hand.

wow, great list.
I never thought of the pay at the pump feature but I love that too!

Aawwww (I told you), that's a great picture of you two.
I'm with Suzanne, the microwave.
-Washing machine: not having to go down the river and wash on a rock like my grandma did.
-Indoor plumbing: yes!!

Those are some pretty darn good blessings and made me wonder why the heck I haven't figured out the chocolate milk thing yet. :-)

how 'bout tweazers!! even though i over tweaze, i could stand in front of my 10x mirror and poke and tweeze all day long.

Pay at the pump IS awesome. You know one of the things I mis about Utah. Technology like gas pumps that have TVs showing the news and self-checkout lanes at the supermarket. VA is so 20th century!

i LOVED girls just wanna have fun. oh i so need to rent that soon. i need to just bite the bullet and get mary kay stuff, because i know it's good. i just don't like the whole idea of a consultant.

what makes my life easier? i would have to say the 2 washing machines i have at my apt complex. i can wash and dry two loads of laundry in 1.5 hours. i have it down to a science, so i'm not doing laundry all day. it's awesome. if i ever buy a house i'm totally going to buy two washer and two dryers to go with it.

I love my car. I know it sounds not so totally amazing as an invention, but seriously, I am so blessed to have a car of my very own!

I also love my computer-what DID we ever do before them?

Post-it Notes totally rock.

I am a different person because of my Franklin Covey planner.

I, too, love my best friend ever-my fabulous husband!

My ipod is SO much fun, and I can't believe how much fun I'm having with it. It makes grocery shopping go much faster and be a much more pleasant experience.

Digital cameras--how cool are they??

Ummm...oh, yeah! Not a recent invention at all, but ice cream!! 'Nuff said!

Millie - I love that, too, you know how when you put in a spoonful of quick, there's always just a little left on the spoon, kind of still dry, but a little wet? Mmmmm.

I'm not allowed to have chocolate milk anymore. I can drink a whole gallon in a day.

When I was pregnant my husband (who must really love me) would bring home not one, but two jugs of chocolate milk, because he knew that I wouldn't want to share...

I've stopped wearing mary kay color/spf stuff, but I did like it in SD. I now use her lovely but way too expensive spf30 moisturizer. I have really sensitive skin and it is my favorite sunblock for my face.

Contacts are my favorite invention. Without them I'd still be wearing huge old lady glasses.

Modern day plumbing and Febreze. The thought of using an outhouse in the Texas heat with swarming mosquitoes makes me want to hug my little porcelain throne.
