The Singing Bee

I've bragged a ton about my husband's awesome musical talents. He can sing (even though he'll deny it) and he can play the piano by ear. You can hear some of his musical arrangements here. Anyway, I was not blessed with the gift of music- at all. At all. At all. BUT- I was blessed (?) with the gift of rememberance. Meaning- I can remember the words to like every song ever played on the radio. Ok- that may be exagerrating a bit, but I can definitely remember words, titles and artists of songs better than Sei. (After reading this post you'll see that's not really saying all that much...) He often tells me I'd do awesome on "The Singing Bee." (Don't be jealous.) Sei has some kind of mental block. He cannot get the words to songs right- unless it's Tupac or Snoop. I remember hearing him sing "Have I Told You Lately" by Rod Stewart. This is what he said:
"You fill my world with sadness.
Take away all my gladness."
Yes, you read that right. Now that wasn't a major thing- he just reversed some words. But it TOTALLY changed this love song into a "You suck" song. And he didn't even realize he did it. At least he had the words right- just in the wrong order. Usually what he sings doesn't make sense at all.
As for titles... I'll let this picture speak for itself. This is a list Sei was making of songs he likes to play and wants to put on a cd for me. Look at the last song...

Yep- you know that great song "Broken Arms" by Journey?? "So now I come to you with broken arms..." "...Hoping you'll see, what your love means to me. Broken arms..."

I love my husband.

You would be good at the Singing Bee! I totally suck at remembering words to songs, movies etc. Oh, I'm not artistically blessed in any way.

If he had broken arms...in casts...how does he go to the bathroom? Needy indeed!

Oh yeah, that's classic! You'll be singing that song to each other when you're 80!

"Living with casts, living in pain
These big ol' casts are so hard.
Wanting to scratch them, needing to reeeeach
How much my poor forearms iiiitch.

So now I come to you, with broken arms, this straightened out hanger should help....

Gina- It's funny. Sooo many people compliment him on his writing. Makes his love notes even cooler.

Mel- Knowing the words to songs and quotes from movies is my only claim to fame.

Emily & Nancy- Imagine my life living with him...

Azucar- A man willing to break his arms for you- true love indeed.

EWBL- I made EWBL LOL!!

JC- I don't wanna know.

Nobody- LOVE the lyrics!!

Tara- Yeah, this one's pretty classic. Much like Nicole's misquote...

Bri loves "Open Arms" so I've been teasing him for years with "Broken Arms" - so funny that that's what Sei thought it really was.

LOL @ Nobody's "straightened-out hanger..." HAHAHHAHAH!!!

Okay now. I am trying so hard to stop laughing. First I so totally love Journey. I once told Allen to win me some tickets tot he concert because I was going to spend the day at Scout camp and wouldn't be able to hear the radio or call in. He did win and we went. Yessss.

So to read Sei's broken arms made me laugh so hard I was crying. My kids are standing here asking what's wrong? Nothing I TRY to tell them.

Then I check out that link from jenica. . . Holy Belly Ache!

made a bathroom break to prevent incontinence and still can't stop laughing.

I should add that this is my very long day and I don't get off work until 7 PM so fatigue might have just a little to do with it.

I just can't thank you enough for the best laugh I've had in LOOOOOONG time!

Tori :) said...

pj- Yes- proof of his spaziness.

Suzanne- Yes, he's very thoughtful, even if his thoughts don't make sense or make me laugh.

jenica- A friend sent that link to me via email. Too funny!!

Kayelyn- I saw Journey last August with Def Leppard. Great concert!

Maybe broken arms is a song being sung to a loan shark that sent his goons after someone to collect a payment. It could be a big hit.
