A whole lot of good

Although some MEAN things happened to me this week, all and all it was a good week. I'll start at the top....
Annie bestowed this sweet award upon me. The Nice Matters Award.

"This award is for those bloggers who are nice people; good blog friends and those who inspire good feelings and inspiration. Also for those who are a positive influence on our blogging world. Once you've been awarded please pass it on to 7 others who you feel are deserving of this award."
This means so much to me!! I usually think I talk so big about running kids over with my car and handing out Tad Awards right & left that people don't realize I'm actually really nice... for the most part. Apparently Annie was able to see this!! Thank you!! And now I get the honor of passing this award on to 7 more awesome bloggers... If Annie hadn't already received it she would be at the top of my list!

Robin- A good friend- very loyal, fun and silly!! :)
Suzanne- Even when she's trying to "be mean" she seems sweet! And she's my texting bud. ;)
tara- A hardworking mother of 3 girls. My instant messenger friend.
No Cool Story- She's my online twin so she must be nice!! (Plus she always seems to know when I need a nice email or phone call! It must be that weird twin connection...)
David- Because I want to see him put this pink award on his sidebar. Oh- and because he's nice. ;)
swampbaby- Because she's my big sister and I want to be like her
and last but not least...
UtMommy- Because she played Dance, Dance with me! :)

I also received some good mail this week....

ElasticWaistbandLady wins the award for the funniest good mail!! She actually sent it inside a toilet paper roll. How's that for original?!?! She sent me a cat poop receipe & 2 magnets- one with a crab on it. Now I can "tell everyone that I got crabs from a smiling infidel!!"
Suzanne surprised me with some Sour Patch kids (mmmm....yummy!!) and circle sticky notes that Liv has loved sticking everywhere!! And I forgot to take a picture, but Allison gave me a nice, big coke. Thanks girls!

Kelsea and Karlea left on Sunday. :( This month went too fast! And it was lame because the 1st 2 1/2 weeks at least one person was sick with the stomach bug. Out of 9 people, 7 of us got it. Yuck. But we had a good time nonetheless. We went to Transformers and Shrek 3, visited the petting zoo, the aquarium, Chuck E. Cheese and Kelsea and Karlea finally jumped off the diving board with NO FLOATIES!! That is a huge accomplishment!! Tristan, Alec and Isabel are like fish, but K & K haven't had quite as much practice, so learning to swim better was HUGE!! I'm so proud!! We got a family picture made, but I think I may keep last years hanging up. Livie wasn't very cooperative, which didn't surprise me. I've taken her twice- at 12 months and 16 months- to have her pic made and she wouldn't sit down. She screamed. I've had to settle for blown up pictures I've taken myself. She likes to say "CHEEZ" for our camera! Anyway... all and all the visit with Kelsea and Karlea was great, it just went way too fast. This is the 1st summer in 3 years that we've only had them 4 weeks. Legally 4 weeks is what we're given, but we've had them anywhere from 5 to 8 weeks the last few summers. But I guess this summer extra time didn't work with their mom. I don't know. It sucks and we miss them very much. The house has a void when they're gone. I worry about visitation now because they've moved from Calgary to Saskatchewan (I don't know how you spell it!) and it makes travel a lot more expensive and very time consuming. It can take up to 9 hours of flights and layovers to get them here. We're keeping our fingers crossed that things will go smoothly. When they left it was bad as usual. They cried 2 nites in a row before leaving. They cried while they hugged the other kids "goodbye." They cried at the airport and hung on Sei when it was time to board. It's very heartbreaking. :( But this post is about GOOD things- so... it was a very good visit.

And the last bit of good- the Buffalo Bills beat the New Orleans Saints in their pre-season game on Friday. Why is this great or even exciting to me??? Because Sei's cousin, C.J. AhYou, is a rookie this year for the Bills. What's funny is years ago on a surfing trip to Mexico, C.J. signed a "contract" with Sei stating that when he went pro he'd give Sei like $10,000 or something. I have Sei searching for that contract out in the shed as I type. ;) This pic is from the family reunion this summer. The boys were so excited to hang out with a real NFL pro- even though he's still the same C.J. they've taken pics with before. Check out Tristan's shirt... haha

Yay for bloggy awards and good mail! Isn't this community awesome!?

I am sorry K & K are gone so soon. When it's all up to them, they'll spend longer spurts with you all and more often. It's so fun to have the memories you do make in the short time you have w/ them now.

I am excited to see the family photo! Sorry Liv wasn't cooperative.

You deserve that nice award, girl! So sorry for the sad goodbyes, but it sounds like you all had a blast while the girls were with you minus the sickness of course. Enjoy the rest of your summer!

I made the mistake once of telling a photographer that my kids were "extremely photogenic". Yeah, that backfired big time.

Thanks for the award, Tori! It even has roses and ribbons on it so it will fit right in! I'll put it up on my sidebar right away! :)

Don't worry, I'm sure none of us will know if you misspell Saskatchewan! LOL! How sad that Kelsea and Karlea are gone now. Will you get to see them around Christmastime or do you have to wait until next summer?

Love GNR. Though most folks wouldn't gather that. I have their CD in my Jeep.

You really are a sweetie, I mean very nice. Congrats on your award. It couldn't have gone to a nicer person.

LOL! I wrote that and THEN realized how punny it was.

WOAH! I wish I could express what a big deal that is to me -- about the Bills, I mean. I grew up an hour or so south of Buffalo, you know, and the Bills were IT. (Of course, that was in the Levy days, and making it to the Super Bowl...but not quite making it, if you recall). In fact, a huge fundraiser our high school would have was for the Bills to come play basketball (yes, basketball) against our teachers. Fun, fun times.

(Sorry if that sounded snobby, about the Bills thing meaning a lot to me -- of course I'm so glad for your great experiences all around. I know I don't comment much, but I do read, and I enjoy. You're wonderful.)

Also, Darin is an advisor for a Michael AhYou -- relation?

Tori :) said...

Kayelyn- I have their cd in my car too!

J- That's awesome that you're a Bills fan!! What great memories!
I'll check with Sei about Michael AhYou. It doesn't sound familiar... but he's related SOMEHOW to every poly in Utah.
