I'm practically famous...

Saturday at Alec's football game there was a guy there that I knew was someone. Someone I had seen before. In a movie. A church movie. I could totally picture him dressed as an LDS missionary. In a gray suit. He was the good kid. Crap... who was he?!?!? It was driving me crazy until I realized he as the good kid that got to go on an LDS mission when his friend that had screwed up big time wasn't worthy to go at that time. And as this guy was walking down the runway to his plane he held up his scriptures and his clothes changed into armor. He had on the Armor of God. I still don't know his name and couldn't find the video online. So... I don't have a picture of him. But if he's at the next game I will!
Anyway, that got me thinking... Some people have met tons of really famous people. My SIL saw Heather Locklear at Disneyland and full on grabbed her arm and said "You're Heather Locklear!!" (Just in case Heather didn't already know that...) Ok, I'm so the opposite. I don't wanna bug anyone. Like at the game, I could have just said "Were you in an LDS movie??" It's not like paparazzi was following him and he'd be annoyed that I looked him in the eye. But I felt like a dork. So, instead this poor man probably thinks the crazy lady that screamed the whole game has the hots for him because she kept staring. (That would be me...)
These are the famous people I have either only seen or I've actually talked to. Yeah, I know. I'm too cool.

Marie Osmond- at the Carls Jr. in Provo. She was talking on her cell phone really loudly. When we were leaving Sei told her "My wife LOVES your radio show." Eh?? I just stood there like Baby "I carried a watermelon." I felt so stupid because Sei only said that so I would feel so stupid.Wilford Brimley- Yep, he is related to Robin. :) I saw him at a gas station in Idaho. I said, "Hey babe! It's the grumpy oatmeal guy!!" I had just seen Brigham City (which he is in) so I felt extra close to him. I didn't dare approach him though. He always seems mad when he says "If you havve diabetes... damn it.... get on this insurance...." Michael McLean- an LDS musician. I've met him twice. Once after one of his "Forgotten Carols" performance (where I also met the Dallas Maverick Shawn Bradley's wife) and then another time at a Deseret Book book signing. He's very nice.
Wee Man- from Jacka$$. He was at Malibu hosting that show "5-4-3-2-1." We saw him hosting it. And yep- he's short. That's all I have to say about that.Jose Canseco- played for the Texas Rangers. I saw him when I was at Six Flags with a group of friends. He was in line for The Texas Giant (huge wooden roller coaster) with us. He denied who he was when someone said "How was the game?" He said, "I don't play baseball." Who said anything about baseball?? He was busted.Tony Dorsett- played for the Dallas Cowboys. I was waiting tables at a restaurant named The Magic Time Machine. Ok, I wasn't actually a waiter. I was the baked potato bringer-outer. I brought Tony Dorsett his potato and put butter, chives & bacon bits on it for him. It was the same nite as the low speed white Bronco chase with OJ Simpson. At this restaurant we joked around a lot- that's what it's famous for. Like when people go to the bathroom we'll wait outside and when they come out we yell "Hope everything came out all right!!" Anyway- another waiter yelled "Hey! It's OJ Simpson." Mr. Dorsett said, "NOT funny." I guess he thinks OJ did it too. Hmmm.... Tatu- he played professional soccer for the Dallas Sidekicks. He came to our elementary school in 6th grade. I got his autograph. All I remember is that when he scored (on the soccer field and perhaps off) he pulled off his jersey and threw it in the crowd. Very exciting.Y'all have all heard about my meeting with Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block. I wrote about that here. I'm pretty sure if I met him today he wouldn't remember me because I acted like all the other 8th grade girls he met. Still so bugged with myself... Such a loser.

And then there are these women... Can't get any better than this!

I have met and shook hands with the Prophet Spencer W. Kimball, and Elder L. Tom Perry. I met and got an autograph from Tom Chambers of the Phoenix Suns...he is tall...and good looking! :)

By the way that Armor of God Seminary video is my all-time favorite. I met Jose Canseco at a restaurant in the Bay Area when he played for the Oakland A's; also Donnie Osmond at the Visitors Center at the Mesa Arizona temple; and a number of years ago I was at a dinner with Johnny Unitas (former NFL quarterback with the Baltimore Colts--see they're not even the Baltimore Colts anymore!!!) Of course, I WAS IN A TV commercial, so maybe who've met me think they've met someone famous, ha,ha,ha!!!

Still your loyal commenter.

I met Reba. Well, it was in a dream I had. I felt like I really knew her though.

I've never met anyone famous, you do ROCK!

I totally hung out with Edward Cullen last night...ya know, he just sang me to sleep like he always does. Is he famous enough?

Also, in the 8th grade I went to a Brad Paisley concert and I totally loved him. In the middle of a ballad, I waved like a lunatic to him, when no one else was waving, and he looked me straight in the eye and waved at me! It was intense.

Finally, when I was like 3 I met Danny Ainge of the Phoenix Suns. It was aweeeesome.

Wow, I had NO idea Mark Wahlberg's brother was in NKOTB! Is he older or younger than Mark?

Um, the only famous person I've ever met is YOU, Tori. Getting 32 comments on a blog makes you famous!

I did see Jamie Lee Curtis in Sun Valley one time, and I wanted to see Ahnold so badly (he has a house there) that I think I conjured him into walking by the skating rink I was at.

Dang! You have met a lot of people. I am sure I've seen famous people and didn't know who they were. Church famous, I've met a lot cuz I served at Temple Square. And actually, while I was there I met the lady who played in a show called Promised Land. Only, I had never heard of it because it got popular while I was on a mission, NOT watching tv.

And so when I started talking to her, she got really annoyed that I didn't know who she was and then even after she told me her name (Clair Holm) it didn't mean anything to me and then she said, "I'm on Promised Land" and I stared blankly and she got real fired up real fast. When I explained to her we couldn't watch tv she went off about how stupid that was and how good Promised Land was. Oh well.

And I met Michael McLean too. Okay, I didn't meet him. He walked by me when I was giving a tour and I actually recognized him and smiled and he winked at me and then said "Shhhh" as though I was going to leave my tour, rip off my shirt and run screaming his name through Temple Square, and he just wanted to be left alone. Even if I had, people would have been looking at me more...

Oh yeah, and my dad is George Foreman.

I've met a couple of people that are famous. But your list kicks butt.

I grew up in Utah, so the Osmonds are like everywhere. Wilford Brimley is so cool. I didn't know he was related to Robin. That's cool for her.

You are so almost practically famous! But I already know that, you a so kewl.
Now I really want to see that Armour of God video. Sounds similar to one the showed between General Conferences a few years ago, is that it?

I'm like you, I'd hate to bother famous people: I have seen Ernest Borgnine, Cuba Gooding Jr, a famous mexican pop group.
But I have actually met my super much famouser on-line friends, and I'll rather do that any day.

I waited in line when I was a young teenager to meet the guy that played Jack Devereaux in Days of our lives. I got an autographed picture.
I had a picture taken with Spiderman when I was five.
I also met Michael McLean after a Forgotten Carols concert.
Oh yeah...and I have met Millie in person twice...so that has to count for a brush with greatness!

OK, I missed the Donnie Walhberg story and I am DYING over here. So funny. So, so, so funny. If I could go back to my 13 year old self I would just laugh AT her. Dweeb.

I hugged a Chilean Dictator when I was 10 years old. Does that count for anything? Oh, and of course Steve Young a couple times. I can't forget John Bytheway was my 1st half of Book of Mormon teacher at BYU. It was his first semester teaching there and his new wife sat in on EVERY class. He was pretty cool.

Wow thats an impressive list.
I have met NCS and of course George Foreman. Oh,...and a large nurse shark in the Red Sea.

Brigham City scared me to death! which, mind you, isn't hard to do..but they filmed part of it on my grandparents very dark and lonely mountain territory in Utah. I actually had two cousins chase me up the bridge shown in the movie at 11 at night and ditch me and my friend there right after watching it...oh man!

My brother is one of those people that meets famous people ALL. THE TIME! Kelly Clarkson, Mike Tyson, CORBIN BLEU. and a plethora of other celebrities. :) That midget guy is SO COOL!

heidi lou said...

Oh, and Forgotten Carols was amazing. I had front row seats, and stood up with my friend, sawying back and forth to a song that the choir was swaying too. We looked behind us, and every single one of the 509 people there stood up to sway with us...I am amazing, I know. I met Theryl Bailey once in line at Disneyland..I didn't even know he was a basketball player until I asked him though. haha.

Samuel L. Jackson. He was wearing his red Kangol cap and eating a chicken fried steak at a local buffet. I didn't want to come between him and his chicken fried steak, so no Sam Jack autograph for me.

I met the guy who started Hard Rock Cafe and also Glenn Beck-twice!

I need to get out more.

I got nothin. I've been sitting here thinking about it for a couple minutes now, and I just realized, if I haven't come up with anything yet, I must not have met anyone that famous. lol

Can I touch you?

My husband and I met Randy Travis in Vegas. We interupted his slot playing. I also have a friend from high school that is now a professional stunt man. He has done all the Spiderman movies and World Trade Center as well as a few I don't remember.

now this is weird. that Tatu guy I know. One of his team mates lived next door to my college boyfriend and so we went to a million of those soccer games and after parties. Tatu really thought highly of himself, but where is he now? huh? he's nowhere and I'm on Tori's blog! yeah baby!

I had a dream about Marie Osmond last night that she wasn't going to be on Dancing with the Stars because she had a dancing accident and lost an eye. Now she wears a eye patch.

Hm...I know the 10,000 Maniacs, and I've met some of the Buffalo Bills. I saw John Lithgow at the SL airport -- dude is TALL!!! I think I saw Randy Travis or something in NYC, but I'm not into that. Also: a few other actors from "Brigham City", and Jon Heder.

I think there are more, but my brain isn't currently working.

JennieBoo said...

So, tell me, am I famous because I know you? (you know, indirectly?)

Anyway, it's so cool you've met all thesee folks.

And I totally agree about the oatmeal/diabetes guy. He always acts so pissed off.

Anyway......

Oh man! I totally forgot to make a comment about Wilford Brimley! Ok, so we were watching one of those ridiculous Diabetes commercials one day and I totally burned on Wilford throughout the whole thing, and my little brother walked in and was all, "Lauren! Don't make fun of Ted's GRANDPA!" I was all..."uhhhh Zach, that's not his grandpa...but if it was, I would still make fun of him" haha
