Dream interpretation needed

I had a bad dream last nite and I am positive it means something. So... analyze me. What does it mean?
I can't remember everything or how I got in the situation, but I was in my home and a man was drowning me in my bathtub. I wasn't naked or anything, I was dressed. But he was holding my head and body under the water. I was struggling, then I stopped and decided to "play dead." He stopped pushing me under and left the room. As I lay there trying to decide if I should make a run for it or wait to see if he left the house, he came back in the bathroom with a cheese grater. It looked kinda like the one in this picture. Like, it was smooth on the sides- not sharp.
He grabs my right leg and starts sawing it with the cheese grater. Obviously it wasn't cutting me because it was smooth on the sides. Anyway... I actually sit up and ask him, "What the heck are you doing??" and he said, "Using a hacksaw to dismember you." And I proceed to explain to him that it's cheese grater and that the sides are smooth so it's not doing anything to me. Then I woke up and freaked myself out and everything...
So, what do you think it means? Am I a control-freak, even when I'm being murdered? Am I drowning in something? What??

interpretation by aubrey..somewhat:
you DO feel like you are drowing in some aspect of your life..but still feel like you have some kind of control otherwise you wouldn't have tried to manipulate the situation by faking dead and ultimately sitting up and arguing with your own murderer. my friend who is reading a book about dreams said that if you resolve the problem in your dream than you have or you can resolve the problem in real life. if you don't resolve it in your dream..then you're bound to repeat the same dream/problems over and over again. the fact that you took control of your situation in your dream is a good sign. at least that is what i think..

Hi Tori --

Sounds like you're the intellectual type, one who has a tendency to live in the mind and be into questioning, analyzing and discussing -- even in times of personal danger! :)

I think you're drowning in laundry...and hungry for a dang quesadilla.

I think you watch too many TV shows about people getting murdered. And probably do too many dishes, too...

Aubrey is probably pretty close. I must say I like Nancy's and your sister's interpretations.

...maybe you secretly think that if anything is going to be done right, you'll have to do it yourself.

....maybe you secretly think that men are idiots, and can't do anything independently without a woman's help.

I laughed out loud at "a control freak even when I'm being murdered". That's good stuff!

I have had a few dreams in my life where i wake up and I think, "hmm, that meant something." Anytime I've had a dream with water, it's usually involved a big change in the horizon.

Like, maybe you are pregnant with triplets or something.

I can offer no interpretation. But at least you didn't tell your attacker where he could find something that would do a better job than the cheese grater. (Are you sure there wasn't a "beautiful velvet voice" whispering instructions on how to save yourself??? See, I am already into "New Moon")

Aubrey- Hmmm...very deep and probably correct.

ytsl- I hope others didn't LOL when they saw that I was the "intellectual" type. I'm prety sure I've never been called that. But I do analyze alot.

Nancy- True. True.

swampbaby- Who gets killed on "Jon and Kate Plus 8" or "My Name is Earl"? I don't watch SVU anymore. The dishes part is true though.

Kayelyn- I was counting on the therapist viewpoint.

lainey-paney - DING DING DING!! I think we may have a winner!!

yvonne- Just remember that Jacob is mine. :)

Oops- how did I miss you Nobody?? I think you're right- big changes are coming. But I am SOOOO not pregnant with triplets. That's just mean.

Dunno. Maybe it's just your subconscious reminding you to bathe and shave your legs more frequently.

I think you are probably insane and just can't admit it yet.

I think it means you need to get back in the kitchen and make some dinner that involves freshly grated cheese! Then go do some laundry!

High five, Sei.

I think you must have just ate something weird the night before. That always happens to me. Or it might just be that i am weird...hmmm...

(Lauren steps aways from the computer heading to her room to contemplate this predicament more thoroughly.)

Yikes...

I'd want to forget that dream! All cheese graters must go.

The bathtub full of water represents the many demands that are being made on you on a daily basis, and the man trying to drown you represents the guilt that keeps you doing things you don't really enjoy.
The cheese grater represents a hobby or something you are trying to find fulfilment in, but it is the wrong fit for you and obviously isn't what you really want since cheese graters are one of the most unpleasant dishes to wash.
And yes, you are a control freak, and want to control everyone except yourself...

OR...

I have no idea...

I'd wake up freaked out too.

Next time you dream about bathtubs, just yell "CALGON, TAKE ME AWAY!!!"

I am glad others had something to give. I have nothing. I am sorry you almost drown. I had a freaky dream last year that I found Liam dead in a large puddle in the mountains. I have never lost that image in my head... I hate dreams that stick... morbid dreams.

It means no more watching What Lies Beneath before bed, and that a cheese grater won't work as a suitable substitute for a regular razor.

The cheese grater?!! Hahahahah!
