55!!

HAPPY 55th Birthday to my dad!!!! My dad is cool because he never treated me like a little prissy girl who couldn't do anything. He always coached my basketball team and even put me on an all boys team so I'd get more confident. Not sure if it worked, but I did knock the wind out of a kid on my team. :) He is also a great Granddad who's voice has always mesmerized everyone of my babies. His sense of humor is awesome even though sometimes I'm the only one who laughs. He introduced me to great movies like The Incredible Shrinking Man. ;) He's full of trivia and when I catch myself watching some show on the history channel I blame it on his genes. :) He grew up in a little town in Louisiana where once when he was younger he and his cousin "sentenced" a chicken to the death penalty. When they tried to hang it it just started flying around with the noose around it's neck. LOL!! He's smart (Don't hold the chicken hanging story against him. Remember- he is also a male....) and was his class valedictorian He was a star All-American basketball player in high school. They even retired his jersey- which someone stole. How weird is that?? There's probably some 55 year old lady still sleeping with it. ;) He went on to play (on one of his tons of scholarship offers) in college. True story- There was a McDonald's right by the college that had a painting hanging up for years that was my dad shooting a jumpshot. When the painting was no longer there my mom asked the manager what happened to it so she could buy it. Apparently all the paintings had been painted over. >:( I remember once my dad caught these 2 teens stealing our FOR SALE sign out of our yard and my dad chased them in the car. He got them cornered up against a fence and one of the guys pulled a knife! My dad said, "Go ahead fool. I'll put tire tracks all over your face!" I am so laughing as I type this!! I still use that line with him. Anyway, as you can see... my dad is RAD!! Happy Birthday DAD!!
