Birthday/Moms Day Weekend Part I

On Friday Sei and I packed our bags, left the kids with my parents and headed far, far away. Ok, maybe not that far away. We were actually about 30 minutes away. We stopped at Grapevine Mills mall where we were planning to eat at the Rainforest Cafe. But, being the cheap date I am I told Sei I didn't want to spend that much money on food. So... we went to:YUM! I chowed on a swiss and mushroom burger. It was divine. :) Then we headed to the theater to watch Iron Man. I heart Robert Downey Jr. "The truth is... I AM Iron Man." Yesssssssssssss. Outside the theater I saw a 14 or 15 year old emo that I think may have been wearing Isabel's jeans- or at least the same size. I wanted to take a picture, but Sei begged me not to. Iron Man was great and so was dinner, but the highlite of my nite (that I can talk about hehe!) was seeing this:It's the mall security guy on one of those stand up scooter thingies roaming the mall in his cool helmet. I felt so safe and protected. Is that not rad???

We headed on to our hotel after the movie to sleep in and awake at whatever the heck time we wanted to- GOSH! Then it was on to Six Flags!!! Man... I wish I had my camera there. I could have given my twin tons of stuff for "I Spy" and "Silly Saturday." Sheesh... But alas, I did not bring it into the park. Anyway.. that's the start of my weekend. More to come!!!

It is so nice to get "away," even it it is only 30 minutes away. I'm glad y'all got to do that. You both deserve it! & Steak 'n Shake ROCKS!!! I always get the swiss & mushroom burger! Yummy!

Sounds like fun! We don't have "Steak 'n Shake" in NY. It sounds like the kind of restaurant I could enjoy.

The campus safety officers at the university where I work got Segways late last year. They're pretty sweet.

Hey, I've been to the Grapevine Mills Mall, and if the movie theater is the one that's right there, I've been there, too. (Haven't been to the Steak n' Shake, but yum a mushroom swiss burger sounds yummy right about now ; )

I've heard wonderful things about Iron Man--really want to see it.

So glad you had a good time. You deserved it. (It doesn't matter if you are far away--just that you get away once in a while ; )

Sounds like SOOOO much fun, Tori! I'm so glad to hear that!

The security guy on the scooter is hilarious. How cool could that guy feel? And shouldn't they be promoting exercise and fitness for their employees? I was going to ask how that guy would run after a shoplifter if he can't even walk for himself. But that's silly because I bet he could just run a shoplifter over with that bad boy!

Yay for you and Sei getting away. I love those small not too far away, but far enough away, trips. 30 minutes is like a whole other world when it's just the 2 of ya.
