Happy Belated Bday Mom!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. We had a super busy day so I didn't get a post up regarding her big day. I wanted to tell her HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
My mom is cool. She's much cooler than most moms and has a ton more energy than I do. I've written about her in different stories on my 76-to-now blog. One of the stories I wrote is one I always think of when I over-react to something one of my kids do. She sooo did NOT over-react when this happened:

My parents owned a water bed for as long as I can remember up until just a few years ago. I loved their water bed. I loved it so much that when I was probably 4 or 5 I found these hook things (I wanna say they were to hold shower curtains up but I'm not sure) and I went to their bed and poked it. A lot. I poked holes all over the mattress and water started leaking. I'm not sure what I thought I was doing!! I don't remember if I told my mom or if she discovered the shrinking mattress on her own. I do remember she didn't yell or scream at me even though I am positive she wanted to ring my neck. Instead she told me why we shouldn't poke holes in the bed and that I was now in charge of making sure no one with pokey things got on the bed. I took my new job seriously. I went to my toy kitchen and took out the removable plastic sink. I stood by my parent's bedroom door ready to confiscate any illegal, pokey contraband. I don't think I stayed there long- my attention span was too short. But I never poked holes in my parent's bed again. And I've always remembered that my mom did not beat me even though I deserved it.

What a great example she set for me.
Thanks Mom.
Happy birthday.

Wow, Tori. If I had been in your mom's place, you might have ended up on the doorstep of a church!

When I read that on your 76 to now blog, I commented that she was my hero--nothing's changed. When I read it again, I feel the same way. I don't know exactly what I would have done but I'm pretty sure yelling and screaming would have been involved!!!

Happy Birthday to your mom.

Lol Tori that is amazing. Your mom is pretty cool. what has she said lately of that incident? That she had to use super human strength to remember to not smack you like crazy, or is she really an angel and didn't even think of it? LOL

Happy Birthday to your Mom!

I'm with Yvonne! I know that there would have been yelling and screaming involved with me too! What a patient mom! She is an example to everyone!

BTW, my parents' waterbed leaked when I was a kid. None of us know what happened, but I don't think my parents ever fully believed that one of us kids didn't poke it. All I know is that I sure didn't! Hmph...
