Tad Award x Infinity!! EDITED again

Ok, I was on my soap box the other day, but I am more upset now then I've been in a while. Did anyone else watch the Mtv VMAs last nite? I watched the 1st 15-20 minutes and was sick to my stomach. Ok, who the heck is Russell Brand and why was he hosting the show? I understand he's somewhat famous in the UK. And I care because...??? He was the worst host I have ever seen and I don't usually like the hosts Mtv picks. But he made the others look classy. One of my things that can earn you a Tad Award is coming from another country into OUR country and telling us how to vote. I mentioned that in this post. I don't want your foreign opinion- even if it matches mine. It's not your place. And oh yes, Russell Brand, I'm going to take the advice of a drug/sex addict. You must be right!! I'm sure Obama is excited to have your support- not.
Not only that- he called President Bush a "retarded cowboy fellow." That is so disrespectful. I couldn't stand Clinton. I think he embarrassed our country with his Oval office shinanigans, but you know what- he was our president, the leader of our country- so he was respected. I don't care if you're liberal or conservative, NO ONE should think it's ok to disrespect the leader of our nation- the best nation on earth. It was wrong- and his choice of words alone were offensive.
Not only that- he made fun of Sarah Palin's daughter and her fiance. The kid is 18, Bristol Palin is 17. To me they are off limits. Leave them alone. They are in a situation millions of teens find themselves in. How many Baby Mamas are full backers of Obama? Even Obama said it was off limits because he knows he'd offend a chunk of his supporters if he said anything. Russell Brand probably embarrassed the Obama camp. I am positive they aren't going to be using any clips from the VMAs on the campaign trail. It was just sad.
But he didn't stop there. He made fun of the Jonas Brothers for vowing to stay virgins until they are married. WHY is that funny? WHY is it considered unheard of for a 15 year old or a 20 year old to be a virgin and WANT to stay that way!?? Thank you Jordin Sparks for defending them. You're right- not everyone wants to be a slut. But the dumb host couldn't let it go. "A little sex now and then never hurt anyone." Tell that to someone dying with AIDS. Or someone becoming a mom at the age of 14. When kids/people are strong enough to defend their beliefs they are teased on national television by an admitted sex addict. Nice.
MTV really dropped the ball - yet again- on this one. I'll be blocking their channel for good. There is NOTHING on that channel that can bring the spirit into our home. And the fact that people cheered for this loser when he teased the Jonas Brothers, etc..., makes me sick. Literally sick to my stomach. What would be awesome is to have someone host that said, "You know kids- you should follow their example! Being a virgin IS cool." But no, now the kids just have, yet another, bad example and reason to feel embarrassed for living the right way.
Russell Brand- you suck.
GO Jonas Brothers!! GOOD VALUES rock!!! Thanks for setting a good example for my kids and helping make being the "good kid" COOL!

**Edited to add: Just a little more info about Russell Brand found thru several different sources online: Brand's first presenting role came as a VJ on music channel MTV presenting Dance Floor Chart and MTV Select. However he was fired after coming to work dressed as Osama bin Laden the day after 9/11. Very classy don'tcha think?

**Edited again to add: I called the VMA comment line, Pepsi and Verizon. Here is the number to call to voice your opinion on the show: 212-258-6000 tell them you would like the VMA comment line. Here are the sponsor lines: Pepsi 800-433-2652 and Verizon's 908-559-3500to let them know they need to quit supporting pure crap. (Thanks Swampbaby. Go read her post about the VMAs.)

I didn't watch it, but it seems we would have had the same sort of views. Obama sucks. He's a socialist that will ruin this country. The Jonas Brothers are awesome.

'nuff said.

Good post Tori. I totally agree--we don't really need one more loser example of how to screw up your life and the lives of others.

Didn't watch it either, but "How many Baby Mamas are full backers of Obama?" has me yelling

A-FREAKIN-MEN!!!!!!

I'm sure there were plenty of libtards out there in TV land who loved this guy as the host. MTV is messed up.

I think NCS needs to make us a new Obama graphic - "Baby Mamas for Obama!"

I don't watch it since the early 90's :)
But I did read all the crap that went on last night. ITA with you, as much as I didn't like Clinton I still respected him for being the President.

Evil will we called good and good will be called evil and then they'll make fun of it.

Did you see the pics of Milley Cyrus standing next to HORRIBLE Katy Perry??

I would love to be first, just once
:)

Amen, Sister! I only read about what he said and saw little clips and I was disgusted. MTV is PURE CRAP and I think they sank to a new low, if that was even possible. And this is coming from someone who use to watch it. I think we should all let them know what we think. I say we flood their inbox with complaints.

P.S. I was going to bring this up on a post today, too. So I will have to refer people over to yours, too.

P.P.S. I just checked over on MTV's website and there are thousands of comments similar to yours. I hope people really do boycott them like they say they will! I'm writing a letter today.

Did not watch last night. But after reading this post without taking a breathe I can feel your hype and agree with you. I am so sick of the liberal trash push on TV.

I didn't watch any of it, but based on your description and what little I've read about it on the internets, I totally agree with all of the non-political parts of this post :)

Omar- Sorry if this post sounded political at all. I was trying my best not to do that. It was just funny to me that this LOSER thought that Obama would even WANT him as a backer. He was total trash. I hope people make their political decisions based on real research and not on this gross guy's opinion. The only reason I mentioned Obama at all is because he opened the show saying "VOTE FOR OBAMA!" and then said gross stuff about KIDS and even said Palin would be a VILF (A vice present I would... you know). NO political candidate would want his support. Blech.

WOw...I'm even more glad we don't have cable now.

omar said...

THAT I totally agree with! :) And that MTV sucks.

Great job, tori.

Didn't watch the show--and it sounds like I should be grateful I didn't!!!

If an American went into another country and said something negative and demeaning about their leader, i'm sure the crowd would have responded and kicked the @#$% out of that person and banished him. The idiots at the VMA's embody the Russell Brand persona. I'm ashamed that no one stood up and said anything. I would have been kicked out defending our country because it's MY country. Russell Brand needs to get the H3ll out of here. Shame on MTV and the losers who didn't put a stop to it.

Patriot said...

Oh, and I definitely want to vote for Barrack Hussein Osama now that another loser like Russell Brand is backing him and wants me to vote for him. NOT.

Okay, I was disgusted by the dude--I was flipping and saw about 5 minutes. Pretty much what you saw---making fun of Bristol and Jonas Brothers. I was apalled. The guy was disgusting. I'm 10X's more disgusted about your edited to add note. That's when I really wish stupidity was painful.

I think you did a good job keeping this nonpolitical. And you make a good point about being respectful. Just because we don't agree with someone, it doesn't open the door to be disrespectful and even crude. With anyone. Somehow it has become cool in Hollywood to rip on conservatives. I just want to say that Obama pointed out his mother had him when she was 18----the only difference here is that his mom wasn't running for VP.

Whatever. Anyway. This guy deserves a kick in that nasty ratted fro he was sporting. Oh wait, was that disrespectful? Sorry.

p.s. you're cute when you are mad

I'm glad I don't have cable too. When I hear things like this it makes me want to shut my doors and hide my daughter from the terrible world. I know things will only get worse over time, but it still makes me sad as I see it happening. Why people? Why?

I am so with you on all of your points. I didn't see the VMAs but I am so glad I didn't. I have read a lot of crap on the internet about how the Jonas Brothers got made fun of though...and that makes me sick. I love them! They are the coolest and they are good role models.

Ugh!

Millie said...

I had to go look up the guy because I didn't recognize his name - and when I saw his picture, I was like, THAT GUY? That's who hosted the VMAs? He was on Leno a couple months ago and was completely vile. Just a huge sicko.

And like someone else said earlier - like we really want to listen to this dip about who to elect president. Any suggestion this guy makes, I'm going to do the complete opposite!

MTV - really, a new low. And that's saying something.

No Cool Story said...

The guy is a DB.

Fin.

I already left a comment on your sis blog, but i totally agree. I was so mad.

Mom-
I never watched Mtv as a kid/teen. I vaguely remember a "Bang Your Head" video, so I'm thinkin that's early 80s... I must not have had any cool friends.

utmommy said...

I didn't see it, but I would be just as pi$$ed as you. What a loser. He definitly deserves a tad award or two.

Stacey said...

I completely agree with you! Your post echoes my thoughts from when I was watching the VMA's. I don't usually watch them but I wanted to see the Jonas Brothers perform. I didn't know most of the performers and nominees but the music sounded like crap to me. Either I'm getting too old for MTV or I have more taste now.

Russell Brand=digusting loser

Jordin Sparks=Groovy chick

I didn't see and I am so glad I didn't. What a mess this world is... and I hope that loser host gets much punishment for his behavior in the coming months. What a douche!

We never watch MTV or VH1... like you said, nothing but filth really to pick from between them.
